Historically, this art has reflected the divisions in the city. But in recent years, something transformative has been bubbling across the walls of Belfast, with a growth in mural art of a less divisive nature.
Street artists from across the globe have joined a new breed of Belfast based street artists to leave their mark on the city, and paint walls that bring people together, not keep them apart. Much of this art is emerging in Cathedral Quarter, where the annual festival Hit the North takes place.
