Opening Ceremony - Thursday May 3rd
  6pm Writer's Square (opposite St Anne's Cathedral)

In a departure from previous festivals, this year we present a special bill of unusual shows to whet the appetite for this year's Festival of Fools.

Hoodwink presents:

Gastronomic

UK

Having toured Europe to great critical success, Hoodwink arrive in Belfast to present an elaborate outdoor theatrical feast featuring flies in the soup, exploding fish, runaway puddings and a table that literally walks off in disgust. Elegance and etiquette rapidly transcend into an epic finale of custard pies, slapstick comedy, song, dance and fantastical visual theatre. Tremendous fun for all ages, this show is a fitting opener to the 2007 Festival of Fools.

Magician Ishamudin presents:

The Mango Tree

India

Since opening the 2005 Festival of Fools with his legendary presentation of the Indian Rope Trick, Magician Ishamudin makes his return to Belfast with a brand new illusion, which has its origins in Indian mythology some 2,000 years ago. Prepare to be bewildered, mystified and delighted with this original magical feat.

Knot Smart presents:

Get Stuffed

Ireland

First performed by Harry Houdini in New York in 1907, this thrilling escapology trick has been brought into the 21st century with a highly comical interpretation performed by two of Ireland's leading street performers.
